Kathie Nejman

Kathie is excited to be a part of Cleveland’s amazing dance community and just loves being part of the CMC family!  Her teaching career spans over 25 years, and although she teaches many dance styles, she specializes in tap, jazz and musical theater. Kathie teaches and choreographs for many dance studios and competition teams throughout Northeast Ohio as well as being a Dance Educator for Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Community Engagement and Education Department.  She was also a Choreographer and Director/Stager for Norwegian Cruise Lines, based in Florida. She has choreographed several numbers that have been performed throughout the NCL fleet of ships. Kathie has also choreographed for high school musicals, show choirs, and dance teams as well.  Throughout the years, her competition numbers have earned numerous overall awards and have been recognized for choreography.

Kathie grew up taking dance classes and performing in musicals, industrials, local events and showcases.  She was truly privileged to study under the renowned teacher and choreographer Dee Hillier and was a member of the Dee Hillier Dancers, where she was instilled with a love of performance.  Throughout the years, Kathie has performed and/or assisted with numerous local events such as the Christmas Lighting of Cleveland’s Public Square - “Tis The Season”, the opening of the Allen Theatre, Ohio Games, Matrix and Vitamix industrials, and more.  Kathie’s dance training also extends into the ballroom world where she was a dancer and instructor.  She competed in the professional division, as well as the pro/am division with her students.  Kathie continues her education by attending dance conventions and travels annually to New York City to take classes from world-renowned teachers to stay on top of the latest trends in dance.  Kathie hopes that she can instill the same passion and love for dance that her mentor, Dee Hillier, has ignited in so many.

Kathie is most proud of being the founder of “Dancing For A Miracle”, a performance fundraiser that invites Cleveland dancers to come together to help a child or family in need within our dance community. We have an incredible outreach of love and support from area dance studios and the arts community here in Northeast Ohio. The money raised is donated to the family to help offset the many expenses associated with their illness.  Since its inception in 2006, “Dancing For A Miracle” has raised over $50,000, and has helped lighten the burden for some very special families.  “We dance today, to give hope for tomorrow.”
